2017 was a great year with lots of learning, blessings and memorable moments.
For some, it was a year of astounding success, for some it’ll was moderate and for some, it was the worst year ever.
But irrespective of all the moments, there is always something to learn for.
But what doesc 2018 has in store for us?
What’s the problem in 2018?
Let’s start by a quote from my favourite author, Robin Sharma.
Don’t live the same year 75 times and call it a life. – Robin Sharma.
The problem with 2018 is that we will still be comparing ourselves to others who had major successful year.
We will still be repenting on all our losses and failures.
We will still be repeating last few years and fooling ourselves that 2018 was another new year.
But deep down, we all know that we won’t be taking any new action.
Recall your life 1 year ago. Don’t you think you made the same resolutions to make 2017 your best year ever?
Except from few slected, majority of people fell off from track before mid year.
So what happened?
If you look on the internet, everyone will be telling you there was a mistake on how you made new year resolutions and suggest to make powerful new year resolutions, tips to make them better and how to set proper goals.
But do you really believe that above reasons were true?
Below is the biggest reason people fail to accomplish their new year resolutions.
They lack clarity in WHO THEY ARE.
Most people make resolutions based on what other people are doing. But they fail in 1 major thing, “Knowing themselves.”
If you asked me for my New Year Resolution, it would be to find out who I am. – Cyril Cusack.
No matter how many resolutions you make or how powerful your goals are, you’ll never achieve them if they don’t reflect your core values. Even if you achieve them, you’ll fee like something is missing.
Once you find out what your core values are based on your nature and the things you value most in your life, you’ll now have to do the work that interests you most.
But the problem is there are lot of things that interest you. So what are the next steps?
Just move in the direction that inspires you the most.
If there are 10 things that inspire you, pursue them one by one and see which one holds your interest the most. Keep deleting the rest of them one by one and only focus on one or two things that keeps inspiring you every time you do it.
If you feel on the top of the world after doing a particular activity, that is the thing that you can aim on accomplishing this year.
“One of the things that may get in the way of people is that they’re not in touch with their passion. If you’re passionate about what it is you do, then you’re going to be looking for everything you can to get better at it.” – Jack Canfield
Start focusing on that thing. At the and of year, if you do the thing that interests you, you’ll be much happier that you tried.
Real satisfaction comes in doing that work you love. As we all know, the major reason for failure in any area is lack of persistence. Fast results are not guaranteed anywhere but doing the work you love will surely lead to satisfaction and happiness and eventually success.
And if you do the work will full happiness, who is going to stop you?
“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reach, don’t adjust the goals; adjust the action steps.” – Confucius.
