What does it mean to live your dream?
I was in 9th standard when I came across public speaking. I could not go beyond few words. Everyone thought I was an idiot.
I didn’t think at that time that public speaking would totally change my life and become my passion.
Fast forward to this day, I have spoken to more than 5000 people in schools, colleges, events and other places.
Clearly, something changed my life. But it didn’t happen overnight. It took time.
The road to upgrading my skills was a rough one. But one thing was sure. Not even once, I thought of quitting public speaking. Not even writing which is also my passion.
I continued doing things that hooked my interest. I tried many new things, failed at some and succeeded at few.
Clearly, it took me long to get clear on what I want to do with my life and even today, I wonder whether I should pursue X or Y. But one thing is sure, whatever I do in future, it’ll be writing, speaking or both. That is for sure.
No task gives me high as speaking and writing gives. With this feeling, no matter how much time it takes to work full time on my passion, I never get stressed about it.
I now understand why people tell that consistency is the key to success and why majority of people fail on their way to success and never bounce back.
Do you have a dream that you feel stressed about?
Here’s how you can live our dream without getting stressed about it.
Get some real knowledge.
I often hear people asking others about different business opportunities and when they say no, they are again clueless as to what to do.
The problem with this attitude is that you depend on others for your life.
This happens because of your ignorance. You are busy in watching cricket, reading news and other people’s lives.
Time to get some real knowledge. Learn why do people do what they do? On what principles were the great organizations of today built? What was the mindset of their founders?
Yo can’t do anything that looks like a great opportunity. You will only do what excites you.
Half knowledge is dangerous. Get some real one.
Delete what you have heard earlier.
Contrary to what most people believe about motivation, it’s not a temporary feeling.
It’s a real thing that actually works- but only if you know how.
People hear motivational seminars and never implement the lessons taught and then blame the motivation for not working and call it a lie.
The actual lie that you are made to belive is that motivation doesn’t exist for long. It works but only for those who believe.
Another thing that people say when they look at successful people is that they are born with a natural talent and immediately lose the hope that they can do something.
In the long run, hard work beats talent. A fool with a plan can beat a genius with no plan.
Everyone is born with natural talent but what matters is how we pay attention to it and cultivate it slowly. Only then it becomes a talent worth oursuing.
Throw excuses in the trash and grow up.
There are 2 main excuses people give for not pursuin their dream.
Time and money.
If you closely look at how you spend your daily time, you’ll realize a common pattern like this.
Get up, listen to music or sleep while commute to job, gossip at extra time on the job, sleep or listen to music while returning, watch TV in evening, have food, surf the internet and go to sleep.
I wrote an entire book of 48,000 words in 18 months by working for 1 hour daily with a full time job. I could have easily wasted that time by watching free movies in my mobile like other people did. I wrote aother book in next 2 months.
Those books gave me an authority figure when I pitched myself for giving seminars.
You don’t lack time. You lack priorities.
Money and skills are another excuses people give for not pursuing their dreams.
A friend of mine one went with a group to Goa. After completing the trip, he researched a bit about the travel and hotel cost and realized that he paid too much and the amount that the organizer earned in 4 days was his entire salary.
He then started a small travel group and organized his own trips. So far, he has organized more than 20 trips and is more happy than he could ever be.

If writing is not your thing, then you can also record videos and uplod it on Youtube.
There are endless ways to live your dream and excuses shouldn’t be there to stop us.
You may wonder what if all these things don’t work out?
If one of the regret most people have before death is not living their dream, don’t you think it’s worth trying to attempt to live your dream and fail rather than not trying at all?
