Failure is scary. No one likes to fail.
I was once sitting with a group of friends and the topic of discussion was stock market.
And as expected, there were all kinds of people in the group.
The risk takers, the safe players and the cowards.
The risk takers were the ones who were driving the discussion. They were talking about the huge profits they made in just few days even after huge losses. They bounced back.
The safe players were happy about the same profits they made but over a long period of time.
But the cowards were those who wanted to earn money in stock market but not willing to put enough time to learn the fundamentals.
They just wanted the filtered information from the risk takers.
These people also were too scared to lose money and thought about finding a quick shortcut to earn money.
They were afraid of losing money and sold the stocks in hurry whose prices skyrocketed later. In short, they were afraid of failing which restricted their ability to ear even more.
What I understood from that discussion was that most people fail because they do not approach life with a right mindset.
And this mindset which makes failure a bad thing, is the root cause.
This is the reason we should forget everything we learned about failure like…
Failing is bad.
In schools, we are punished for being wrong and failing. Same is with corporates. hence, the entire system is designed in such a way right from you are born till you get old that you take failure as a bad thing.
However if you consider the positive side, failure makes you wise. It keeps you humble.
And these qualities are essential for being successful in any field.
But if you keep keep avoiding failure through your entire life, you will never realize what potential could you unlock.
Just as a diamond cannot be created without cutting and polishing, a person cannot succeed without failing.
Failing is not bad. It’s the mindset about failing that is bad.
Only you are failing.
When we see success stories pf people on Facebook, newspapers, media we think that everyone is succeeding except us.
The reason this happens is because we don’t read stories on failures.
What we believe as to be true is this.
What it actually is.
Each and every human on this Earth has failed and will fail in future. You are no exception.
When you start believing that failure is inevitable in any part of life, you start seeing the possibilites.
Remember this. Always.
The less we fail, more we succeed.
We think that the less we fail, more are our changes of being successful.
This is contrary to the reality.
When you fear failure more than others, you avoid failure and in turn, take less risks.
But we forget that higher the risk, bigger the reward.
Thinking your mistakes as your failures.
People are ready to blame you.
Everywhere you go, there are people ready to blame you because of 2 reasons.
1.They want to hide their mistakes.
2.They are not ready to accept the failure.
So even when you make a smaller mistake, you think that this your biggest mistake and you would never succeed.
This is the exact way majority of people are programmed right from childhood.
Next time when you face failure, accept it completely from your heart and mind and go to the root cause of it.
When you finally realize that this mistake is yours is not the final failure, you’ll be fearless.
If you are not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.- Ken Robinson.
The purpose of life should be to learn from failure. Not to avoid failure.
