Five times you lied to yourself (And how not to repeat that).

lied yourself

“I don’t lie”. Said one of my friend.

I waited for 10 long minutes till he completed his talk on the same matter.

“I can prove that you lied” I said in affirming voice.

He challenged me.

After 5 minutes, he agreed to what I said.

Here’s what I said.

Everyone lies at some point or other. But there are few people who choose not to. However, sometimes, life puts us in some situations when we lie unknowingly.

Here are five situations when you lied to yourself.

After listening a motivational speech.

We all have done that. We need that kick in the butt to work because we are not able to work. So we turn to motivational videos or events. After that video, we promise ourselves that we will not only start our work but will dominate our field. We will crush the competition. We will be in the top of our field. Then, the day ends and we go to sleep. We promise ourselves to start working on our dream from tomorrow.

From next day, that initial motivation which was at it’s peak comes back to zero.

Think back on your life and recall how many times have you failed to take action after seeing motivational videos.

After seeing someone’s travel photos.

We are happy in our own home, our own city. But the moment we see someone’s travel photos on social media, we start to admire their life. We want to be like them. we want to travel like them. We want to see the whole world.

We then make a budget, ask our friends, plan things and fix the date. We promise ourselves to travel more often. But as the date starts approaching near, our initial excitement fades. Plans starts to cancel, excuses come over and what not.

A year passes by and you haven’t even traveled nearby spot for a weekend. How many times has it happened with you?

After seeing someone transform their body.

The moment we see someone who goes to gym and transforms his or her body, or an actor with a good physique we get inspired to make our body like them.

We join the gym, we take supplements, we diet. We them promise ourselves to make our body fit.

How many people do you know who have joined the gym just by getting inspired for a moment and then never going to gym only to waste all their money? We all know one such person in our lives.

When you were drunk.

When you drink alcohol, it increases the release of dopamine hormone in your brain. This makes you feel relaxed and happy.

We all know how people behave when they are drunk. Either they complain, speak the truth or over-promise. This promise is usually forgotten the next day.

We challenge our friends on any topic that is going on only to feel stupid the day after that.

When you were hospitalized.

When we are in hospital, we repent on the choices of food or the kind of lifestyle we lived. We then promise ourselves to eat better, exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.

But then we are cured. Months pass by and then, we see a delicious junk food item. We can’t control ourselves and grab it. Next day, as we have slept late, we find it difficult to get up and we avoid exercise. Slowly, our old habits starts to take over.

How many times has it happened to you?

How not to repeat it?

Ask yourself.

Do you want to lead your life backwards or in forward directions?

Do you want to live your life like champions or like quitters?

Do you want to increase your self worth or decrease it.

The champions, the winners never lie to themselves. What they they they will do, they do it. They do it at any cost.

From this day, promise yourself to complete the task at any cost that you set your mind to. Great heights are not achieved by lazy people.
