If you are an employee or a student, you must have thought of starting your own business at some point in your life.
I too thought like that.
There were 3 reasons why I thought I would be an entrepreneur.
I didn’t like my boss’s life.
My work didn’t inspire me.
I was creative.
But as years passed by, I was stuck as a employee. I was working for no.1 company of my field at that time.
But who cared? I didn’t care.
All I cared about was satisfaction and freedom both of which I didn’t have at that point.
A day came when I begged for 2 days leave and was rejected badly.
That was the day I decided I will start working on myself in my spare time so that I could work on my own someday.
But that decision making process was the ultimate barrier.
Here’s how I overcame the decision making barrier.
I knew that my current status in life was because of the past choices I made.
So if I wanted a better life, I had to make new choices.
And that process began when I accepted that I no longer want to remain an employee for lifetime.
Then I started worrying about others.
My family, my colleagues, my relatives and my friends.
I worried what they might think and the decision might not be favorable to my family.
I then approached my grandfather. I think elders have the solution to most of our problems.
He told me that there will come a point in my life where I have to take decisions which are good for me and not for everyone else.
Unless and until I take decisions that make me happy, I cannot make others happy.
But then I was worried about taking a right decision.
I was worried I might screw up.
My grandfather sensed my worry and said, “Son,how will you know it’s a right decision if you never make it?
The most successful people in this world have taken the most wrong decisions. But they never let those wrong decisions stop them from taking a new decision next time.”
I asked many people apart from my grandfather.
Few of them said the same thing.
Others suggested me an entire different opinion.
I then realized that all the opinion I took from other people didn’t led me anywhere.
I learned most from life only when I took my own decisions may it be wrong.
No one became an expert in making decision overnight.
They took imperfect decisions, learned from them and made them right.
It’s only when you dare to make bad decisions, you learn to make good decisions.
I realized that when I was ready to take any major decision, something was stopping me from inside.
That something was fear.
FEAR of making bad decisions was stopping me from taking good decisions.
Once I realized that inner devil, all the external circumstances became easy.
There was no fear from outside.
I realized that the only thing that interfered in my decision making process was fear of making bad decisions.
Once that became clear in my mind, all the decisions were taken easily.
I decided that some day, I will quit my job and become an entrepreneur and that main thing is that I am not afraid to make that decision.
And that state of fearlessness is what makes all the difference.
