If you are one of the employees anywhere in the world, you might have experienced the feeling of absolutely being disappointed with your job and feeling like resigning the moment your boss scolded you or gave you a mindless task to complete! And it’s normal. Believe me; each and every employee in the world feels like this even those who are not saying it. And they continue to suffer because they don’t see any hope. They have accepted this default way of life.
And it’s normal. Believe me. Each and every employee in the world feels like this even those who are not saying it. And they continue to suffer because they don’t see any hope.
They have accepted this default way of life.
But you don’t have to live this default way anymore. I have learned this the hard way. I was excited in my new job but as time passed by, it became routine. Everyday, go to same place and do the same work with same people. This was same with other people too. They were not loving their job either.
But as time passed, I was feeling excited in life. There was something inside me which kept me alive.
When I asked myself what makes me happy in spite of being a terrible employee in a boring job, I was amazed by the answer I got which was the most overlooked secret to loving your job.
What made me happy was not regular pay check I got but the passion I had on the side and the effort I was putting to make that passion come to life.
I started observing people around me. After coming home from their jobs, they would just roam ideally, gossip, watch TV, mindlessly surf internet and sleep. There was no definite plan of what they wanted to do.
But when I came home, I had lots of things to look forward to do. I was planning my next book, next seminar, reading something and also working on developing my podcasting skills. This gave me happiness.
One hour spend in doing such tasks was more than one week of mindless work at job. For the first time in my life, I felt satisfaction.
If you are one of those people who hate their job, ask yourself these simple questions,
“Am I living my authentic life?”
“Do I have any interests outside my job?”
If you are not enjoying what you do all day, there’s no point wasting your life by idleness. Develop some interest, learn something, read books, teach something, read inspiring quotes and watch your life getting meaningful day by day.
Steve jobs was the perfect example of this. During his college days, he was learning calligraphy which had no relevance to the subject he was studying in college. When he finally connected the dots, that calligraphy classes played a huge role in designing the iphone.
We normally take our life day by day which is a terrible way to live. Don’t just sit on couch and watch TV but do something, do anything that makes you feel good.
Make this daily habit and see the magic unfolding slowly.
